Our MISSION is to deliver high energy, genre-blending performances that connect with every crowd.
“the band put its own cool, breezy, confident stamp on every song …”
— B. Crandall, Co-founder of Song Graph; former digital lead for SiriusXM and Rolling Stone
We are an eclectic scalable ensemble rooted in the Northeast music scene, known for delivering genre-fluid performances that balance originality with familiar favorites. Fronted by lead vocalist Lou "Dezzilou" Ledesma on rhythm guitar, alongside Chip “Captain” Thomson on lead guitar and John “Bassman” Krieger on bass, the group creates a sound that is both grounded and exploratory—equally at home on a festival stage or at an intimate private event.
“Band of Strays was great the other night at Wild Air Beerworks. We always enjoy listening to them.”
— B. Dlugosz, Wild Air Beerworks audience member
The band’s origins trace back to a New Year’s Eve conversation in 2016, when Ledesma and Thomson bonded over music, life, and a shared drive to perform. What followed were late-night rehearsals that felt more like open jam sessions, where collaboration and spontaneity shaped the group’s identity. With the addition of bassist John “Bassman” Krieger—known for his steady, resonant groove—the foundation of Band of Strays took hold, supported by a rotating circle of trusted musicians including drummers Bill “The Thrill” Grafton, Craig Redmond Jr., Bob Jakuc, and “Strategy” on keys.
“Love this band! Always a great show!”
— A. St. Jacques, audience member
